Draves, Robert Donald

(July 11, 1925 - January 26, 2012)

Mr. Robert D. Draves, 86, of Beloit, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Sun Valley-East, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 11, 1925 in Highland, Wisconsin to Charles and Myrtle (Otto) Draves.

Mr. Draves came to Beloit in 1942.

He served his country in the US Army and was stationed on the East Coast as part of the American Campaign.

On June 30, 1950, he was joined in marriage to Beverly J. Smith.

Mr. Draves worked for 371/2 years as an assembler at Warner Brake and Manufacturing.

Upon retirement he worked part-time for 10 years at Tru Value Hardware.

His great hobbies were hunting and fishing with his family in the North Woods of Wisconsin. During the winter he enjoyed bowling where he many longtime friends.

He was a lifetime member of the Afton VFW Post.

He was a past member of the Eagles and Moose Clubs.

He is survived by his children:

Dennis Draves " Randolph, WI,

Judy ( Gary) Alexander " Beloit, WI, and

Scott (Tina) Draves " Madison, WI.

Two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

One brother Delbert Draves and one sister Alice Williams, both of Beloit, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, one granddaughter, Mindy Alexander-White.

Pastor Terry Morehouse of BeloitLifeChurch will officiate.

Burial will be in MiltonLawnsCemetery.
 
A luncheon will follow at the Afton VFW Post on Afton Road.
