Blint, Lloyd

(October 23, 1926 - May 20, 2010)

Lloyd Blint, age 83, made his transition to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Monroe Manor in Monroe, WI. Lloyd was born September 23, 1926 in West Point, IA and raised in Denmark, IA.   He was the son of the late William and Nellie Donnelly Blint. He attended Denmark Academy High School.   He served in the United States Army during WW II and received the Purple Heart for being wounded in action.  He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal December 31, 1948 for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations against the enemy during the Southern Philippines   Campaign in the Pacific Theatre in Operations. During the Korean War, Lloyd served five years in Tokyo, Japan under General Douglas MacArthur.  

Upon returning from the war, he took residence in Janesville and was a farmer.   He built the Silver Dollar Restaurant in Afton, WI, presently known as the Bass Creek Expresso Cafe.   He retired in 1988 from Warner Electric Brake and Clutch..   He was a member of the Warner Electric 25 Year Club and a member of the VFW.

Lloyd is survived by Mary Kay Burns Blint, his wife of 29 years, and their two children and their families: daughter Brandi King Foster (Howard) and their children, Joshua and Jonathan Harris, Jocelyn and Jordan Williams, Jazmyn Harris, and Drew Foster of Perrysburg, OH; and son, James King of Beloit, family member William Long, and honorary granddaughter, Connor Allender, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Albert, William, Elmer, Ralph, Raymond, Dean, and Donald Blint and sisters Helen Goodwin, Francis Martin, and Doris Watznauer.  His interests included gardening, watching WWF, Bonanza, and the Andy Griffith Show, and going to breakfast at Sophia™s restaurant with special friends Jeffrey Crall and Dennis Ferrell.

 

 A celebration of Lloyd™s life will be held at the Rosman, Uehling, Kinser Funeral Home on Monday, May 24, 2010.   There will be a visitation from 1 PM to 2 PM with services following, officiated by Pastor Ivan Timm. Immediately following the services, the family will be hosting a bonfire (something that Lloyd enjoyed) at the Blint home " 2236 Afton Road. Interment, with military honors, will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Veterans™ Union Grove Cemetery, in Union Grove, WI at 11:00 a.m.

A thank-you to the staff at Monroe Manor and Hospice, all doctors, nurses, and staff who took care of Lloyd during his illness.
