Thorp, Thomas K.

(September 29, 1929 - February 2, 2010)

Thomas K. Thorp, 80 of Milton, WI died on Tuesday February 2, 2010 at home. He was born on September 29, 1929 in Green County, WI to Thomas E. and Zelma (Kundert) Thorp. He was a graduate of MonroeHigh School class of 1947.   On February 2, 1952 he was joined in marriage to Yvonne Marquart in Milton.

At first he farmed and then in 1956 he opened the landmark Tom™s Restaurant in Milton. He owned and operated the restaurant for 41 years, retiring in 1997. He was once known as the oldest businessman in the city. He was very generous with his employees. Over the ensuing years, he became a skilled short-order cook and a graduate student on the art of reading people. He was friends to young and old alike, who found an atmosphere of friendship in his restaurant. Mr. Thorp also worked at Menards in Janesville and drove bus for the MiltonSchool District. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne.

Julia (Ken) Bailey- Beloit, WI.

4 grandchildren

2 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thorp was preceded in death by: parents, one brother Frank, and one sister Nada. Per his request there will be no services. Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer is assisting the family.
