Zumbro, Russell L.

(March 4, 1931 - December 31, 2009)

Mr. Russell L. Zumbro, 78, of Rockford, died on December 31, 2009 at St. Annes "Provena after a long illness.

He was born on March 4, 1931 in Aurora, Illinois to A. Russell and Mildred (Bridge) Zumbro. He graduated from HarlemHigh School, Class of 1949.

On November 3, 1951, he was joined in marriage to Mary Alice Lind at the UnitarianChurch in Rockford.

Mr. Zumbro was employed as a machinist; first at Barber-Colman Co. and then at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. where he worked for over forty years until his retirement in 1992.

He enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors from planting flowers and trees to hunting and fishing. He had many hobbies but his passion was crafting colorfully inspired fishing rods for family and friends.

Mr. Zumbro was a member of the N.R.A, Ingersoll Rod and Reel Club, Rockford Mens Garden Club and Riverside Assemblies of God Church, where he faithfully served the Lord through volunteering.

He is survived by his two daughters:

Julie ( Chad) Dibler " Rockford

Jeanne (Lance) Bifulk " Beloit, WI

Five grandchildren:

Daniel L. Bifulk " Victorville, CA.

Julie A. Bifulk " Camp Taji, Iraq

Andrew J. Bifulk " Madison, WI.

Hope A. Dibler " Louisville, KY.

Scott C. Dibler " Decatur, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents and his sister Darlene Degerstad.

The Funeral Service for Russell Zumbro will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Riverside Assembly of God Church, 4242 W. Riverside Blvd.Rockford, IL. 61101. Time 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at SunsetMemorialGardensCemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 5, 2009 from 10:00 a.m.   at the church until the time of service.
