Rutledge, Paul

(August 4, 1940 - August 31, 2008)

Paul F. "Pete" Rutledge, 68, of Beloit, died Sunday August 31, 2008 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 4, 1940, in Rockford, IL the son of Robert & Marie (Welsh) Rutledge. Pete grew up in the Rockford, S. Beloit area until his family moved to Janesville in 1948 and started the Janesville Floor & Window Cleaning Company. He worked for his parents as a youth and into his early adult hood. Pete attended Craig High School. Pete married the former Karen Dillree on May 20, 1961. They moved to Beloit in 1969 Pete retired from Gardner Machine Company in 2006. He was active in taking care of his neighbors, family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Pete also enjoyed four wheeling and fishing. One of his biggest joys was cooking his home made pizza for family and friends. Pete is survived by his wife of 47 years Karen Rutledge of Beloit, WI; 5 children: John (Wendy) Rutledge of Beloit, WI, Paul (Jill) Rutledge of Mesa, AZ, Timothy (Deb) Rutledge of Beloit, WI, Connie Rutledge of Milwaukee, WI, Carol (Kevin) Smith of Beloit, WI; a brother: Thomas (Julie) Rutledge of Bolder City, NV; 2 sisters: Roberta Crary of Janesville, WI and Janet M. Stark of Columbia City, IN; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; many extended family members and Toby his four legged child. Funeral services will be 11 AM on Friday September 5, 2008at Rosman Uehling Kinzer Funeral Home with Fr. Gray Krahenvuhl of OLA Catholic Church. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Garden. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday September 4, 2008 and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorials may be made in Petes name to Beloit Regional Hospice or OLA Catholic Church. On line condolences may be given at rukfuneralhome.com.
